Diane and I had a wonderful time during our spontaneous weekend trip to Ocean City and Assatigue National Park in Maryland. We didn't plan this mini-vacation, but when the weather man said it was going to be nice dry weather over the weekend - a welcomed change from the heat and humidity - we decided to go for it! We packed our camping gear, a change of clothes, stuffed our cooler with with food and loaded up the motorcycle in the pickup, then drove the 200 miles to Assatigue Park thinking there would be plenty of camping sites since the 4th of July Holiday was over. But we were wrong! All camping grounds were full. So, we back to Ocean City and checked into an Inn for the night. It cost $100 more ($25 for a camp site), but it was definitely worth it!

Here are a few pictures I took during our visit. I have more pictures of the beach and wild ponies on a second partially exposed roll of film, which I will post some of these after I have it developed. By the way, all these photos are 35mm Kodak Royal Gold 100 ISO film. I had a CD made at Moto Photo and asked them to make only the high resolution TIF format (4x6 @ 512 p.p.i.) images, then I reduced the resolution to 72 p.p.i. for posting on the Web. Hope you enjoy the scenery!

Strolling along Assatigue National Park beach

The best part about the Ocean City Boardwalk isn't the shops, it's watching the people!

There are some exceptions, however.

All Wrapped up, these two dudes posed for me before launching kites in front of their shop on the Ocean City, Maryland boardwalk.

A steady offshore breeze kept the kites aloft unattended.

Deer and wild horses (coming soon with next roll of film) wander carefree throughout Assatigue Park.

Diane enjoying the sunset over Assatigue Bay on the opposite site of the long, thin island, never mind the swamp mosquitoes who were enjoying our flesh!

A picture-perfect ending for a wonderful day at the beach
