Ice storms are commonplace during the winter here in Virginia. Fortunately, our first winter storm on Thursday, December 14, was not as bad as some, coating everything with just a half inch of ice causing some power outages and tree limbs to come crashing down. We lost several large branches from a maple tree in our backyard, and a bush was split in half in our front yard. School was two hours late, but otherwise, it was no big deal.

For almost a year, I had kept a roll of Kodak B&W 400 Chromogenic film in my camera bag for just such an occasion. After capturing a few pictures in our yard, I stopped at Franklin Farm on the way to work to take some more pictures, then during lunch, I dropped the film off at the Photo Lab for processing. I think the film did a pretty decent job, and the processing was a snap!
