About This Photomontage

This Pentagon 911 Remembrance photomontage is a carefully selected collection of poignant photographs taken by U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) photographers over a year’s time, beginning immediately after the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attack on the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and concluding with the one-year anniversary held at the Pentagon on September 11, 2002. (Notice the superimposed photograph of a charred clock found in one of the damaged Pentagon offices that had stopped at the exact moment of impact.) The center aerial photograph of the resurrected Pentagon, taken at the one-year anniversary ceremony honoring the victims of the terrorist attack by U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Angela Stafford, stands as a proud and prominent symbol of the ever-resolute American spirit. The smaller photographs depict the dramatic chronology of events: the dreadful image of the Pentagon in flames moments after the hijacked American Airlines Flight 77 Boeing 757 jetliner crashed into the Pentagon, the heroic efforts by firefighters and rescuers, the makeshift memorials, and then concluding with the one-year anniversary and remembrance events at the Pentagon and Arlington Cemetery.

As the creator of this montage, and a contractor for the Army’s Deputy Assistant Secretary Chief Scientist, Research and Technology, I have made this enduring memento available to the military community and general public for purchase, with the primary objective of contributing the proceeds to the Pentagon Memorial, scheduled for completion in the fall of 2006 (http://www.pentagonmemorial.net).
